Microvolunteering means doing short, bite-sized activities that benefit society or the environment. It’s usually things that anyone can do in just a few minutes, perhaps from the comfort of your sofa or whilst waiting for a bus.
A few examples:
- Knit, draw or make something to send to someone in need
- Sign a petition
- Share a charity’s page on Facebook or retweet them on Twitter
- Send a letter or email to your local MP in support of a charity or local community campaign
- Tag animals in photographs to help with conservation projects
- Play games that help with scientific research or generate donations, such as freerice.com – an online quiz that donates rice to help combat hunger and malnutrition
- Map points of interest on planets and asteroids
And much more… For ideas and inspiration get in touch with your local Volunteer Centre.
